The Joyful Rebellion: Progress Starts with Rest

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion!

Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical.

๐ŸงชWhat's New In the Lab

I took time off, and it was glorious.

Not because I was burned out or had nothing to say. But because I had a lot to build and I wasn't willing to half-do any of it while also performing "consistent newsletter cadence" for the algorithm gods.

So I made a decision not to send a newsletter just to send one.

Here's the lesson about building a business rooted in boundaries: you actually have to practice them. Even when your inner Achiever (hi, top StrengthsFinder strength ๐Ÿ‘‹) is whispering that real entrepreneurs don't take breaks.

Reader, real entrepreneurs absolutely take breaks. The ones who last, anyway.

So here's what I was doing instead:

โ†’ Moving the whole digital home. The Dawn Lab now lives at dawnmhunter.com. Same work, same mission, cleaner front door. (More on this below.)

โ†’ Speaking in rooms that lit me up. Most recently at Lifelong Learners of Tampa Bay, where I got to ask: What if we valued care and connection over profit and productivity? (Spoiler: the room had thoughts.) Huge thanks to Adam S. Peters and Jessica H. Maurer for the invitation and the synergy. ๐Ÿซถ

โ†’ Building the next phase. A marketing campaign just launched ๐Ÿš€and I am genuinely thrilled about it. It's built around the Workplace Boundary Health Indexโ„ข and a body of work I've been quietly developing for the better part of a year. This includes a new Affirmation Deck and Journal that I can't wait to share!

And also? Resting. Reading. Taking a break from my fitness routine. Having long conversations with friends over wine. Living my life.

Because that's the whole point.

๐ŸŒNew Digital Home: A Quick Tour

The Dawn Lab has officially migrated from thedawnlab.com โ†’ dawnmhunter.com.

Why the move? Because Dawn Hunter is The Dawn Lab: the consulting, the speaking, the podcast, the writing, the whole rebellion. Putting it all under one personal brand hub felt like the best move.

What you need to know:

  • โœ… Old links automatically redirect โ€” nothing's broken
  • โœ… workisthird.com still routes straight to the podcast
  • โœ… Same content, resources, and offers โ€” cleaner home
  • โœ… Social handle is now @the_dawn_hunter everywhere

It's a small story about big work: building systems that make things easier, not harder. Which is, not coincidentally, exactly what I teach organizations to do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

โ€‹๐Ÿ‘‰ Take the tour โ†’โ€‹

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ An invitation: Free Boundary Audit

If you've been feeling that low-grade hum of "something isn't working but I can't name it" about your workplace, that's data. What is it telling you?

The free workplace Boundary Audit is a quick, data-informed pulse check on where the friction shows up: at the individual, institutional, or systemic levels. It's the same framework I use with consulting clients, just in a self-serve version you can run in about 10 minutes.

๐ŸŽง Work Is Third: Podcast Spotlight

We Don't All Have the Same 24 Hours | Redefining Health with Jen Fry

What does health actually look like โ€” when you factor in ADHD, night owl energy, systemic barriers, and the courage to say the hard thing out loud?

In this episode, I sit down with Jen Fry โ€” conflict resolution coach, speaker, tech entrepreneur, and author of I Said No: How to Have a Backbone and Boundaries Without Being a Jerk โ€” for a wide-ranging conversation about redefining health on our own terms.

๐Ÿ“ŠData That Matters

Why this matters

1 in 2 adults in the U.S. report feeling disconnected from others on a regular basis. 66% of workers say they're burned out - and it's worse for younger workers.

The takeaway isn't "connection is nice to have." It's that connection is infrastructure. And workplaces that understand this are workplaces where people thrive.

๐Ÿ’ฌQuote of the Week

๐Ÿ““ Journal Prompt

When was the last time I really took time for myself, and how did that benefit me?

๐ŸŒž Affirmation of the Week

Sometimes moving forward requires me to pause and step back.

(P.S. โ€” speaking of affirmations, my affirmation deck is officially in production for a Summer 2026 launch! More on that soon. ๐Ÿƒ)

๐Ÿ’ซ Closing Reflection

If something in this issue landed for you, hit reply and tell me. I read every response. Genuinely. That's not a marketing line, that's the whole reason I do this.

Some places we can keep talking:

Thank you for being here. Thank you for staying through break. Thank you for being the kind of reader who lets me model the thing instead of just preaching it.

With care and rebellion, Dawn โœจ

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion! Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical. ๐ŸงชWhat's New In the Lab This past weekend I was at the Girls Rock St. Pete showcase, cheering on campers and remembering what it felt like to be a full-grown woman at Ladies Rock Camp with a room full of strangers who felt like family by the end of the weekend. I support this cause every chance I get, partly because I've lived it. There's something about a room full of people...

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion! Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical. ๐ŸงชWhat's New In the Lab I've been quiet out here, but not idle. Behind the scenes, I've been gearing up for beta testing the Workplace Boundary Health Indexโ„ข this week. As a recovering perfectionist, I want to make it sharper before it fully opens up while also not overthinking things! Want a teaser? Check the Closing Reflection for a link to the upgraded Boundary Audit. All...

Leadership isn't a title. It's how you show up. The Joyful Rebellion | April 27, 2026 @thedawnlab

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion! Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical. ๐ŸงชWhat's New In the Lab "You're either a leader everywhere or nowhere." This quote is from Abby Wambach's Wolfpack, which was my book club's pick for April. We had a rich conversation exploring what it means to be a leader and how we show leadership in our actions every day. There were so many great lessons in this short but impactful book, but one takeaway for me is this:...
