The Joyful Rebellion: Take the Helm 🧭

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion!

Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical.

πŸ§ͺWhat's New In the Lab

This Friday, I'll be at the Amplify Women Tampa Bay Summit with the theme of Women at the Helm: Navigators of Change. I'm leading the opening icebreaker, which might honestly be my favorite kind of work. Getting a room full of women to loosen their shoulders, laugh a little, and put themselves first.

And here's a truth about leadership nobody puts on the conference banner: most of us are navigating change without a map. We're promoted, thrown into rooms, handed responsibility we were never actually trained for, and expected to steer like we've done it a hundred times before. (Sound familiar? This week's Better Boundaries Brief and podcast episode both go there too.)

I'll also have my affirmation deck and journal in the room for the first time ever, and my website shop opens that same day. More on that below (I promise it's a soft landing, not a sales pitch. I'm just so excited to share! πŸ™‚)

For now: if you're at the helm of something this week, whether that's a team, your family, or a version of yourself you're still getting to know, I see you. Let's talk about how to actually steer.

✍🏽 The Better Boundaries Brief

A new edition comes out tomorrow, but until then, this past edition is right on time for this week's themes on leadership, self-belief, and charting your own path.

🎧 Work Is Third: Podcast Spotlight

Stop Roleplaying In Your Own Life | Dare To Become With Jonathan Cave

What happens when the role you're playing on the outside stops matching who you actually are underneath it?

On this episode of Work Is Third, I chat with Jonathan Cave about daring to become that person instead. Jonathan is the author of The Tree and the Mountain – Dare to Become where he shares his journey to redefine himself.

Jonathan's story really resonates with me. He was a partner in a prestigious Geneva law firm, outwardly successful yet inwardly drained, restless and unable to enjoy the life he had worked so hard to create. But he changed his path, and you can, too.

This week's pick: "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

Jonathan Cave's episode is a reminder that the rest of your life is a blank page before you. How will you write your story?

Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

It's a rainy day here in St. Pete and despite the gloomy weather, the song fills me with hope and promise, and I hope it does the same for you.

πŸ“ŠData That Matters

Leaders, supervisors, and managers are most affected by imposter syndrome - and it gets worse the higher up the ladder you go.

Surprising? It shouldn't be. Lack of leadership training and development is a common problem across the world of work. Companies often promote people who have the hard skills for the job but not the soft skills to lead people. But as this week's Work is Third episode reminds us, we have to learn to lead ourselves first.

πŸ’¬Quote of the Week

πŸ““ Journal Prompt

Where in your life are you playing it safe in the harbor instead of steering toward who you're becoming? What would it look like to take the helm today, even if it's imperfect?

🌞 Affirmation of the Week

I don't have to have it all figured out to lead. I trust myself to navigate what comes next, one honest course-correction at a time.

πŸ’« Closing Reflection

If this week's theme is landing for you, I'd love to hear where you're headed. Hit reply and tell me one thing you're navigating right now. I read every message.

And if you're in the Tampa Bay area, come find me Friday at the AWTB Summit. I'll have the affirmation deck and journal in hand (first time in the wild!), and my website shop opens that same day for anyone who wants to bring a piece of this work home. No pressure, just an open door. πŸšͺ

With care and rebellion,
