Your 5-Minute Rebellion: A Gentle Plan for Holiday Triggers

Hey Reader,

The holidays can stir up more than joy — old patterns, complicated family energy, and those invisible expectations that sneak in with the mashed potatoes.

Before you walk into any gathering (or even just scroll through everyone else’s), take five minutes to create your Holiday Trigger Plan.

Holiday Trigger Plan

This Week’s Rebellion:

Your 5-Minute Holiday Trigger Plan

Grab a piece of paper or open your notes app and ask yourself:

  1. What usually triggers me during the holidays?
Maybe it’s a certain comment, a person, or that feeling of being left out or unseen.
  2. What helps me come back to myself when I feel that way?
Deep breaths in another room, a quick walk outside, music in your earbuds, texting a trusted friend.
  3. What boundary or phrase can I use to protect my peace?
A simple, “I’m going to step away for a minute,” can be your secret power move.

This isn’t about controlling every moment — it’s about preparing your nervous system to stay anchored when things get loud.

Why It’s Rebellious
Because showing up grounded and self-aware in spaces that once shook you is a quiet revolution.

This week, rebel by choosing presence over perfection. You deserve a holiday that feels safe, not performative.

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion! Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical. 🧪What's New In the Lab January has been so full! A highlight was attending the first Under the Sun Chat of 2026 with Amplify Women Tampa Bay featuring Jennifer Addabbo, Co-founder and CEO of Engage fi. I loved so much about the conversation but more than that, I enjoyed the opportunity to connect with other women leaders and changemakers, including some of my book club...

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion! Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical. 🧪What's New In the Lab Welcome back! I don't know about you, but I am feeling excited for the start of a new year. I’m easing into 2026 with intention: less urgency, more alignment, and a deeper commitment to building spaces where we can think, rest, and lead differently. I've spent the past few weeks reflecting on what worked - and what didn't - in 2025, mapping out a...

Welcome to The Joyful Rebellion! Because setting boundaries, resting well, and building healthier systems is radical. 🧪What's New In the Lab Several years ago, I got in the habit of taking off the two weeks surrounding Christmas and New Year's. It was a slower time in my field, and working added unnecessarily to the chaos of shopping, cooking, socializing, and everything the holiday brings. Today, I still choose to give myself the gift of rest and peace, slowing the pace even just a bit to...
